We built Froogle at a hackathon at Montclair State University, where we placed third best project out of hundreds of competitive programmers from the CSIT department. Our inspiration came from the surplus of food at the event and the desire to mix and match ingredients without wasting them. Froogle takes in ingredients and outputs personalized recipes using OpenAI API.
The current food system leads to significant food waste due to a lack of planning and awareness about the ingredients available.
Solution:Our project, Froogle, helps solve this problem by providing a platform for individuals to input their available ingredients and receive personalized recipe recommendations. With Froogle, users can reduce food waste and plan meals more effectively. However, there is still a need to educate individuals about the importance of reducing food waste, and Froogle can be used as a tool to raise awareness about this issue. By using Froogle, individuals can make more informed decisions about their food choices and reduce their environmental impact.
